In response to Phelps' own defense, two of his sons, Mark and Nathan,
claimed that when they were in their teens and worked in their father's office,
they heard Phelps repeatedly use racial slurs in reference to his clients.
Mark went on to allege that his father liked to play a "game" wherein he
would slip the letters "d.n." into legal terminology while speaking to black
clients; Mark claims that his father told him this meant "dumb nigger" and
the object of the game was to slip the letters in as many times as possible
without alerting the client.
